This renovation project aimed to transform a 1990s house into a home that could grow with the family as their children matured. Located in a beloved community, the homeowners wanted to maintain their connection to the area while updating their living space to suit their evolving needs better. The renovation aimed to create multiple functional spaces for family enjoyment, enhance the kitchen’s usability, and incorporate unique design elements that reflected the homeowners’ personal style.

Architectural and design features

The architectural and design features of this renovation focused on creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces:

• A two-story outdoor area extends from the kitchen and lounge, which is perfect for entertaining and features Garapa decking and a louvred roof.
• The lounge room extension provided additional space for family gatherings and leisure.
• A new, user-friendly kitchen was designed to accommodate a larger family, enhancing practicality and ease of use.

Unique elements

Several unique elements were incorporated into the renovation, adding character and functionality to the home:

• A vertical cedar balustrade in the stairwell adds a touch of elegance and warmth.
• Feature walls with built-in fireplaces in the lounge, creating cozy focal points for relaxation.
• Engineered timber flooring throughout the home, providing durability and a cohesive aesthetic.
• Adding a new bedroom will facilitate easier accommodation for visiting family members from overseas.
